In order to carry out all the projects that Kiwanis is involved with throughout the year, each member is asked to join one or more committees.



Strategic Planning
Co-Chairpersons: Joe Calla and Cynthia Bryant

  • The strategic planning committee develops the Club’s fiscal year objectives and goals as well as short & long term projects..
  • Monitors projects and progress related to goal achievement. 
  • Identifies, nominates, and processes members for recognition awards from both the Club and Kiwanis International.
  • Identifies and nominates candidates for Club office.

Meets:  Quarterly

Finance, Budget, and Grants
Chairperson: Karen Rodenheiser

  • Works with the club treasurer and chairpersons to control the club’s funds.
  • Reviews budget requests, prepares annual budget, and makes budget recommendations to the Board for review and action. 
  • Develops grant applications and ensures appropriate use of grant funds.

Media and Public Relations

Chairperson: Lisa Myers

  • Publicizes Club activities to the general public through various forms of press releases to media outlets, social media, and through the Club’s public website.
  • Controls functionality of the club’s website and Facebook accounts.
  • Includes the weekly e-mail updates via the “Weekly Blast”.
  • Includes the club’s quarterly newsletter, the NBKC Quarterly.

Fundraising Committee

Co Chairpersons: Addi Rossi and Marybeth Christiano

  • Identifies fundraising opportunities and presents to the Board for approval. 
  • Manages all club-related fundraising events, projects, & activities.

Pre-K – 8th Grade Education
Co-Chairpersons: Regina Calla and Romie Holmes

  • Working through Communities in Schools (CIS), Committee members provide educational assistance through, mentoring, proctoring, et al.
  • Provide assistance to supported activities from Pre-K (Priority One) through Middle School. 
  • Kid’s World Acadamy.
  • Working with Service Leadership Programs (SLP’s) including Terrific Kids – and K-Kids & Builder’s Club as available.

Chair Person: Elaine Wallace

  • Works to stimulate, grow, and maintain Club membership through activities that promote, sponsor, and recruit new members. 
  • Conducts new member orientation and performs new member induction. 
  • Plans periodic Club social events throughout the year; e.g. “5th Tuesday”, etc.

Meals on Wheels
Lead:  Vacant

  • Members deliver meals to needy individuals in the Leland area. 

Time involved:  One designated Friday a month for 2-3 hours.
